About Us: Our Story, Our Mission

Our Story

Intimately U is a survivor-founded, trauma-informed wellness brand born from lived experience—founded by Kyla Derry, a survivor of domestic abuse who transformed personal adversity into a movement of healing and empowerment.

Kyla knows firsthand the journey from survival to resilience. Her vision was clear: to create a safe, supportive space where self-care becomes a powerful tool for healing—and where survivors are not just supported but empowered to lead, create, and thrive.

Founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Intimately U blends tradition and innovation in self-care, offering trauma-informed products, workshops, and partnerships that center healing, dignity, and reconnection.

Our Commitment to Survivors

At Intimately U, we believe survivors deserve more than healing—they deserve opportunity. That’s why we’re building a CEO-Survivor Program:

  • A pathway for survivors to learn entrepreneurship skills, develop products, and build sustainable careers.

  • A model where survivors are not just recipients of support but leaders, creators, and changemakers in the wellness industry.

We are also committed to hiring survivors and creating safe, trauma-informed workplaces that foster dignity, financial stability, and community. Every workshop we host, every product we craft, and every partnership we build is an extension of this vision.

  • Building a Survivor-Led Team

    • Committed to hiring and training survivors in trauma-informed, purpose-driven roles—ensuring that lived experience informs every aspect of our work, from product creation to community engagement.

  • Collaborations in Progress

    • Actively engaging with shelters, community organizations, and exploring retail partnerships across Nova Scotia and beyond—expanding access to trauma-informed wellness through co-branded workshops, product gifting, and community-based initiatives.

  • Future Focus

    • Developing the CEO-Survivor Program—a survivor employment and entrepreneurship pathway that fosters leadership, business skills, and creative agency for survivors within the wellness industry.
